As a continuation of our work on AARP International’s The Journal, we turned to the Netherlands to examine how the country is responding to population change. The challenge was to tell a nuanced story that focused less on data and more on the cultural and human dimensions of aging.

During a month on location, we captured stories and images while developing a deeper understanding of the Dutch approach to aging. Working alongside members of AARP’s executive team, we had direct access to conversations with policymakers, industry leaders, and residents. The design drew from the Netherlands’ rich tradition of art and design, informing the typography, color, and in-house illustrations used throughout the publication and related materials.
